Alain Mailhot, a sculptor specializing in wood art, uses about a hundred types of wood from five continents to create his animal-shaped works: pencil holders, brush holders, boxes, etc. To fully appreciate the natural colors of the wood species and their tactile and visual textures, the artist uses only oil and wax as protective coatings. Since 1978, Alain Mailhot has participated in several exhibitions in Quebec, Canada, and Europe. Several magazines and newspapers in Quebec and the United States have praised his work.
